Retail. Events. Weddings. Retail. Boom.
Not your typical “bodega” flowers. Our shop offers exotic long lasting flowers with cool textures and vibrant colors. We maybe a little pretentious about flowers but we do believe that the flower experience should be fun. I mean come on - we are located in a bar.

Two of Ditmas Park’s own stopped in today to earn a little allowance money by giving us twenty-two lovely blue hydrangeas from their family’s garden. These beauties are stunning in summer arrangements as well as singly in bud vases. Come escape the heat and pick up a flower right from our neighborhood.

Fig Trees Are Back!
![]()
The gentlemen of the Flatbush Fig Farm dropped off six potted saplings today, just in time for summer. Nelson Ryland and his two sons started this little business (as a way for the boys to earn their allowances) and are happily supplying us with trees as the demand for them grows. They produce intoxicating figs and make a great gift. Supply is limited, so visit us soon..

This week we are also selling Forget-Me-Nots (featured in photo), Asters, and Flowering Branches (also in photo) from our friends at Straw Hill Farm in Sundown, NY. They are fragrant and stunning, and start at $1.50 for two stems.

Bloom of the Week: Ranunculus

A favorite of Sycamore Flowershop customers is the ranunculus flower, with its long vase life and bounty of petal. This flower’s name is Late Latin for “little frog” - most likely because they often grow near water. The genus also includes many varieties of buttercup. Wikipedia tells us that “In the interior of the Pacific Northwest of the United States the buttercup is called ‘Coyote’s eyes’ - iceyéeyenm sílu in Nez Perce and spilyaynmí áčaš in Sahaptin. In the legend, Coyote was tossing his eyes up in the air and catching them again when Eagle snatched them. Unable to see, Coyote made eyes from the buttercup.” Here in the flowershop, we sell the Tecolote variety, as pictured here. At $3, they make a lovely single flower for a bud vase as well as a filling and colorful addition to your bouquet. Stop in and see which color we’ll have this week!
